Cycling tour through Mekong Delta Vietnam from Ho Chi Minh - Vinh Long - Cao Lanh - Chau Doc,
(Heading to PhnomPenh (Campuchia) by boats).
Before entering the Cycling, Green Horizon Tours’ guides will meet you at your hotels or at your dinnertime to provide a short instructional briefing.
Day 1: Sai Gon to Vinh Long, 118km distance & 50km cycling - B,L,D.
Early in the morning, we will transfer to Cai Lay Town, where we start to get all equipment needed as: bicycles, gloves, helmets. The tour starts by cycling along the river to Cai Be Floating Market about 25km. On the way, you will enjoy stunning scenery on two river banks and experience life on the water. In Cai Be Floating Market, we’ll take one of the small sampans around the mighty tributaries of the Mekong River to see the daily lives of those who work and live on the waterways of the Mekong Delta River. You will have time to visit the unique Cai Be Floating Market, and see a family-run business producing: pop rice, rice paper, coconut candy making. You will have a break for lunch and short rest. After lunch, you will reach a local ferry crossing and then we keep riding to An Binh Island on the cement road through fruit gardens, under the shade of trees, along canals. After having a rest for a while, you then enjoy slow riding around An Binh village of Vinh Long Province. We’ll spend the night In Vinh Long Province.
Day 2: Vinh Long to Cao Lanh, 135km distance & 50km cycling - B,L,D.
After breakfast, we will short transfer outside of Vinh Long City to Tan Hoa Village, where we will cycle to Sa Dec about 30km on narrow road past rice fields and through numerous rural riverside villages. You will break for lunch by local food in Sa Dec. After that, you continue to cycle 2 hours on small dirt roads and walk on the Monkey bridges then reach a Cao Lanh Ferry to Cao Lanh City, and then stay overnight in Cao Lanh City.
Day 3: Cao Lanh to Chau Doc, 90km distance & 50km cycling - B,L.
It is your last day of cycling in Mekong Delta. You will cycle through different eye-catching scenes and head southwest toward Cambodia. The roads have a slight undulation and mountains begin to appear in the far distance. After breakfast, short transfer outside of Cao Lanh City to the cycling point about 45 minutes. You will cycle to Chau Doc Town, along the way you’ll enjoy the peaceful scenes of farmers seeding, ploughing, and harvesting their fields. You’ll ride through the rural areas of Dong Thap Province which is known as the main rice farms in Mekong Delta. Lunch will be served in the local restaurants with mostly Vietnamese foods as: rice, vegetables, meat (Simple but good). After lunch, you ‘ll cycle along Bassac River crossing Chau Giang Ferry heading to Chau Doc Town and reaching Chau Doc at about 4:00pm. Green Horizon Tours’ guides will help you arrange hotel in Chau Doc and boat tickets to Phnom Penh (everyday). The trip is finished.
